Some of my friends tell me that the wood I like best is the one I'm working with at the time. This may have some truth to it but this Afzelia Burl is one beautiful wood and I really like it. The Executive with Northern Pine is one I turned for PITH. I turned another with knots that I liked better. I sent the one with knots instead. Thanks for looking. HWH

Both Look Great, the grass background seems a little out of place but that just me.
The pine looks like you did a lot of work on it.

That pine blank is most excellent! I had to look really close to see if the diagonals were segments or just the growth rings. I don't know of another wood that has such wide, distinct patterns, that would look that good. We all usually look for tight, dense grain or lots of figure, but you took the simple straight grain of the pine and turned it into a design element of it's own. That's thinking out of the box! I'm really impressed with the creativity and execution on that.
