Hi all! Was at the local landfill the other day and saw some interesting small pieces of wood. Was able to get two of these blanks out of one. Thanks to the school of the IAP and all the tips from the wonderful people here, was able to get this done. It is an El Grande kit. The wood is soft, believe it is spalted birch. Not much else but sitka spuce, cottonwood and very few others here on Kodiak Island. Thanks for looking and for all the great helpful advice! Jeff

Guess it is true, one man's trash is another man's treasure.

Nice looking pen there. You said the wood was soft, was that from the spalting? Did you stablize it somehow? Inquireing minds (well at least mine) want to know.

Thanks
Ryan
