Never turned Olive Wood before. Made this to fill an order. Not my slickest turning job, but thought I'd post because I love that grain.

May as well put up this El Grande in Bloodwood for no good reason except that it's the first I've ever turned. Will say this -- Bloodwood looks and feels exactly like Redheart, but turns 10x easier!

They both look great! I love both those woods and find them easy on the tools.

As per your comment, the only thing I see in the olive pen is sanding marks going around the pen. You may have forgotten to sand by hand up and down the pen after each grit.

If you are not inspecting the pen closely, as I was, it doesn't show so don't be concerned.
