Travelled 400 km to be presented with an abandoned Olive Grove, the trees were 60 yrs plus and had been butchered in pruning many years ago, full of splits and ants and this was in the height of the drought (remember?). Lugged the real heavy stuff home and trust me there is no map stapled to the stems saying look in here the colour is hard to locate, difficult to cut for blanks and heavy to work. Sounds like my cuppa well it is.

It has been short cut for years now still not dry so I dried some cut pieces in my roof space.

All good not so clean fun , love the challenge, satisfied with the results. As I say continually if you can buy pen blanks reasonably face to face its the way to go or trust so many of the folks on the IAP as I have.

Regards Peter.

Looks like the effort was worth it Peter. That's some amazing looking grain there and that's a fantastic looking finish as well.

Beautiful pen and you probably can skip gym membership for a while as handling lumber usually gives you plenty of exercise!
