About a year ago I received a piece of "Old Growth" pine from a building in LR (thanks BSea) I finally got around to trying to turn this blank yesterday & alas, it came apart at the seams (or growth rings in this case)!:mad-tongue:not to be outdone, I tried to piece it together with a piece of copper & a piece of Cypress from the swamps of Bayou Bartholomew...its another "unique" piece...not outstanding like some of the works of art I have seen posted here but a "save" nun-the-less! I guess the piece was such "rich lighter" as we call it down here, that the glue couldn't adhere with rosin...

Sometimes an OOOPS will make the best pens. Looks good to me. The wood came from a beam that was used in a building build in the late 1800's. I need to ask my buddy what the exact building was. The salvaged beam was used in converting an old fire station into a youth Hostel. I got a piece that was left over after the beam was cut down to the new size.
