This was an oddball to say the least . I had some Oak that I wanted for something else and had to glue 2 pieces together but after the glue dried and I re-cut it I found out that it was actually 4 pieces (the piece I cut had already been joined) so I thought I'd try a pen from it and have all the grain in one direction . Looks different because no matter which way you look at it the grain is the same .
The block is what the blank looked like after the glue-up . Needless to say after looking at the block , there's a lot of CA in the final pen ! Just look at the pores !!!!!

How did you get a picture of the blank after you turned the pen?
