For a friend who asked me to make a pen from some Oak he had.
He doesn't like high gloss so MM1200 with a shellac finish/sealer, cut back and lightly buffed.
Thought the leadwood end caps gave it a bit of a lift.
regards, Bill

Wow, makes me want to turn some of the oak I have.

I like the ends and especially the (soda can?) inlays. They work great with the chrome kit.

What the heck is leadwood? Is it like Ebony without the heartache?

Leadwood's pretty nice to turn and it seems to be pretty stable as well as taking a good finish. It is as the name suggests a very heavy, dense wood and it's quite oily so needs to be wiped with acetone before gluing.
The inlays are from a soda can, gives the leadwood a bit of definition.
Thanks for the comments.

Very nice the way you used the leadwood and soda can. You have good timing with this as I was going to do a search for oak to see what it looks like in a pen as someone just gave me several pieces he cut to pen blanks from some boards he had.
