First time doing this kit - not especially happy with the results or the little plastic thingie that goes in the cap - seems cheap.

At one time I had 3 pick up loads of that wood but I wainscoted my office with the majority of it. I still have a number of pieces that luckily have lots of knots and wild figure.

Originally it was a barn in SE Missouri that was built around the time of the Civil War. The majority was red oak with a few pieces of white oak here and there. A friend of my Brother-in-law is a dendrochronologist and looked at a few pieces and estimates that the trees were in the 300 year old range when they were originally felled. The rings are incredible - some are 20-30 per inch.
