I like looking around to see what might work as a pen. My shed/workshop is full of junk - sorry, interesting materials. This was what in the UK we call a frame fixing. It was a pain to hollow out the end section to take a brass tube - about an hour with the Dremel.

That seems to be an item used for building construction. Is that a flat-head screw at the top end ?

Cool idea to make a pen out of it !!

Hi Mal. In the UK they are "frame fixings". In effect a large plastic masonry plug complete with a screw. Hole drilled through frame (e.g window or door) into masonry, fitting inserted, screw knocked home tight. Screw has "pozidrive" head, flat head. Screw can be extracted with a screwdriver. I cut the screw short and glued the end part into the top of the fitting. Does that make sense?
