According to Snowman56 this is the good gator bone and is he ever right. Just hope the picture shows the color and texture. Black Ti Baron without the black center band. The crack lines are where the bone joints are and really give the pen a "LOOK". All coments welcome as always good bad or indifferent.

Fantastic! Like the color contrast! What part of the Gator dose this bone come from? Dose it turn similar to antler or whale bone?

Les,

Yes it turns very similar to Antler but has soft spots and you need to have VERY sharp tools and need to do lots of fill with the shavings. Robert answered the question as to what part of the gator the bone was from.

That is awesome! So are the dark spots where you filled with turning dust, or are they intrinsic to the bone? Would the material work well with a pressure casting approach to fill the voids? Or are they closed within the bone and only open up when turned close to final diameter?

James the dark spots are intrinsic to the bone, and no need to cast just use thin CA as you turn. The piece of bone thats the prop I did fill the large teeth holes and cast. I thank all who revived this post as I forgot all about this pen (sold it back in Aug.) and still have a small bone left somewhere.
