Red Oak with the spalted red oak used for a 45 degree cap and a centerband... not as bad as the full spalted red oak pen.. but interesting...
Actually the worst was the open pores of the red oak... I decided to full them by sanding at 400 grit with BLO and allowing the sanding dust from the spalted red oak to fill the pores a little... I think it gave an interesting effect...
