Collected timber in the 1970,s.After my mate cut the two holes on his home made C and C mill for my recent Pen Mill clamp I made these two pens for the couple who retained the log piece waiting to find a way to use it.
Mulga can be harder than, wrecks bandsaw blades, redeems itself turns in ribbons, finishes well, flashes like Australian Tasmanian Blackwood and Aussie Cedar as you turn the pen in your hand. The majority of the sapwood was eaten by bugs as it grows in really tough conditions,it looks a bit like your desert timbers there.
I use Slimlines for everything I can,it allows me to be generous with my pens to a real lot of people.
