When you only have time to make a pen, make one that pleases you. :D
A Platinum Baron Fountain Pen using Nolan's (n4631x) Super Premium Rosewood burl
heartwood/sapwood blanks finished using the following schedule:
320, 400, 600, then MM 1500->12000 sand to polish raw blank
6 coats thin CA
Wet MM 1500->12000
3 coats medium CA
Wet MM 1500->12000
Buffed out with Plastic Polish

The last picture looks like the finish is dull; it's not, that's my poor
photo skills and the light must be bouncing off the edge. I left it to
show the grain on the blank.

Nolan, you asked if I liked these. I think they're the most stunning blanks
I've had the privledge of using to date. [:p][8D]

All comments and criticisms welcome.

That's real nice Gary! I've got a few of those blanks as well and can't wait to turn one! Just waiting on a certain kit to come in.
Great job on the CA as well!

Thanks y'all. Thanks especially to Nolan for the supplies. The blank does all the work.
The photos don't do it justice at all because the places in the photo where the deep reddish
purple looks lighter are places where you can actually see the lighter wood underneath the
darker. They really are totally insane.

Great work! I've really enjoyed those rosewood blanks from Nolan too. I had one with that wood on my site for less than 12 hours before it sold. (that was only the second pen I've sold too!)

The top photo was taken outdoors in natural light. You can see the sun creating circles
of light on the paper as it bounced off the hardware and finish. [:D]
I can't wait to have the opportunity to turn some of the other blanks I got from Nolan.
They're as pretty as this'n was. [8D]
