I was at my local Klingspor's yesterday and the salesman threw in a few briar pipe blanks. They have a huge barrel of these and are selling them for cheap. He showed me a little vase he had done which was very pretty. I used two stems to make the pen you see. I got lucky with one stem that was very long, but the other was stubby and a little shorter than a normal tube but the wood turns fantastic. A few little inclusions but no instability. I think I will go get some more!

Shane, that will make a great pen for a pipe smoker! I know I would have liked to go with mine back when.

Looks great. I have been looking at that Briar wondering if it will make a good pen. Now i know.
