I began turning in November and the holidays provided an incentive to learn as you go and make a whole lot of pens for gifts. Each of the dozen pens was a new pen kit and a new type of wood or acrylic blank, so each was a novelty and I couldn't wait to see the finished project. With the holidays over I was finally able to make two pens for myself that were on the top of my wish list and really inspired me to get into pen turning: a (real) pine cone pen and a corn cob pen. Each proved to be a challenge and I couldn't be happier with the results. The pine cone was soaked overnight in MinWax Wood Hardener and finished with BLO and CA glue.

Welcome from Texas, Steve.

Nice job on those pens - looks like you are well on your way. I hope you will join in on some of the contests & activities in our upcoming BASH celebration. Let me know if you have any questions.
