These little guys are made from 3/4" extruded PVC rod...the same stuff that we were turned on to last week by low-48. It drills great with no blow-outs or cracking. Turning is a little tricky, as you have to hold your cutting tool firmly against the toolrest to avoid dig-ins...its a little catchy, not as easy to turn as the bowling ball material, but a lot better than acrylic. Both of these pens were sanded to #600 and then Beall buffed.

Do you see anything else different?

That little green thingy is a 1/8" turquoise cabochon I glued onto the clip (very carefully) with CA. Picked up a gross (144) on eBay for about $5.00. Try doing an eBay search for "3mm" or "4mm cabochon" and you may find some.

The cabachon was the difference? Here I was trying to figure out about the clicking mechanism as they appear to be different diameters. I thought maybe you turned the tops as well.
