This is my first pen shown to the world. It was partly an experiment in photography and partly an investigation of the process of posting. I have been turning for about a year, and I particularly enjoy turning pens because of the rapid gratification.

This pen is a continuation of my recent experimentation with angled grain. The main body is long grain blackwood. There are two bloodwood inserts at each end with angled grain at 90 degrees to oneanother. I was hoping for an alternating leaflets effect.

The finish is BLO/CA polished to a high gloss. (I know I need to improve my photography.)

Steve,

I think that's a great looking pen. The alternating grain is pretty subtle (at least in the photo), but the angled lines and contrasting colors add great character even if you miss the grain.
