Brad, you really, really, really need to send one of your artworks off to the PMG. You'll be only the second Brit to get accepted !!

However, if I may be a little critical, then I think your nib kinda let's it down just a bit. A similar etching on the nib would help grip and add to the overall design. But that's just me...:wink:

agreed Steve. I had these designs cut a long time ago, just only this weekend had the time to make them. at the time, I wasn't ready to start designing nib etchings, though no doubt will for future pens. one step at a time and all that Still learning my techniques with this!

replica chrome is bright nickel Jim. a good polish would have it shining better though as I'm not happy with the nib design overall I've not bothered.

chances are il make a new nib for this pen over the next few days when I have some time spare

Brad, that is a beauty of a pen etching. Is it very costly to get set up to do pen components like that? Just wondering of the initial setup cost and what you need. Your work is very interesting.

It does add up quite quickly if im honest.

if I were to segregate the equipment into three groups it would be:

Metal work
Metal lathe & tooling
metal band saw
taps and dies

Etching
either pay someone to cut your vinyl masks for you or buy a vinyl plotter
Ferric chloride etching tank with heating and aeration.
compressor with moisture trap
dual action airbrush

Plating
variable power supply with constant current mode
chrome plating tank with chemicals
gold plating solution if you want to do gold, or other platings



Do you have any of the above to reduce your list?
