Nautical,spalted maple with hand applied dyes

In the "what if " world, I thought that this piece of spalted wood had a kind of isle in the seas look. I applied several colors of dye using a small paint brush to try and get a land/sea sort of feel,I suppose it could be better but I have done much worst. I like the nautical pen to bring the theme together but I have to hope that I'm not the only one that sees the overall picture. (the 60s were very good to me:biggrin::biggrin:
finished in CA and massaged in the usual manner,

That pen is gorgeous, I have a brother who recently retired from the Navy that if we spoke I would love to give that to.
