Help all you wood Hounds!
Friends are always dropping off chunks fo wood for me to turn.
I thought this was Juniper, it is not. It has almost no Smell.
Turns like butter. any Ideas??????

Western or mountain cedar. Looks like aromatic cedar but has no smell. In the plains area it is used quite a lot for fence posts. Very Soft wood, you need a good hard finish to protect. Juniper has a slightly more purpleish (is that a good word) cast to the heart, and has lots of bark inclusions. I have some of this myself, Turns better than maple.

My guess is also Cedar or maybe Juniper. Given no smell though, I am second guessing myself. I have turned a lot of Juniper and it always smells.
