I'm rapidly falling in love with this kit. I love the retro look of it, and the shape of the body. This was my first time turning black palm, and I like how it turned out.

Palm is an interesting material. You can clearly see the fibers. I suppose that's what gives it its unique look. Because of its fibrous nature, I was afraid of tearouts, which I did have. But they're small, the pen is for me, and who among us is without flaws? So I left them. I don't like my wood pens to be perfect.

Very nice! I like the look of those pens. I'd heard very early that black palm was very tough to use, but I think you treated it well. What did you end up doing for the finish? The pens look shiny enough to be CA, but I thought CA might have filled in the wood imperfections a bit more...

Your pen is making me consider trying both the compson and the black palm, because both look great here.
