I've been checking the mail all week looking for this. Today the wife went for the mail and it was here. I never knew pine could look this good. He also topped up the box with a few blanks and a couple pieces of bone or antler I think. Another piece of something that looks and feels like stone, I don't think my HSS tools will touch it, carbide for sure.

My wife was there when I opened the box and I almost lost the pen right then.

Thanks Rick

I'm glad it arrived OK Rick, and that your enjoying it. I made several attempts at a segmented pen before decieding to look for the right blank a bit more. My son Gunther and I found just the right hunk of wood on a trip up north for a music festavile. The store was surprisingly empty and we didn't have to search long.

PS the blank is black spruce root burl the tree died in a rather large burn that took place in 2006.

Rick that is a beauty of a pen that you have there. Rick P that is some nice work that you did there. That is a beautiful blank. Who would of known that they had pretty wood from Alaskan trees? I thought they all were frozen. Did that blank come from the hunk of wood that you are holding in the picture?
