I had a great time this year at the MPG in Ohio - Thank You to Everyone involved- and thought I would share some of my demo pens with the rest of you. These were some of the new ones I added to a previous posted group from two years ago. My demo was Alternatives to Casting, showing how I use random items to make pens without casting. I had a lot of fun and hope I was able to spark some ideas.

The first is a Dragon pen with pinewood derby car wrap under a CA finish.
The second is a 2 tone Sierra with a nail polish hydro dipped blanks under a CA finish.
The third is a Knight pen with jewelers chain around the body with epoxy.
The fourth is a maple painted blank of a snowman with acrylic paint under CA.
The fifth is a Knurl pen with poly braided waterline using epoxy.
The sixth is a commercial blank with a shark from stationary paper under CA.
The seventh is an Zen I call Gold Mine with an epoxy and glitter filled oak knot.
The eighth is an Atrax made by splitting bamboo skewers and CA.
The ninth is an Oxford with a commercial blank hydo dipped in nailpolish.
The tenth is shredded money over a pen body under CA.

Thanks,
John

Thanks for all the comments! It was fun sharing and meeting so many. Im glad I didn't bore all of you.

Really like the snowman . Hydro dipped means ?

Hydro dipped is a term used for floating a pattern film in water and dipping an object through it changing its surface. I use nail polish and float it on water, drip by drip, manipulating it with a toothpick and then dipping the pen body through it. After it dries, apply a CA finish.

Great group of pens, and I enjoyed your 'class' at the mpg. You've got a lot more talent and creativity than I will ever have, that's for sure! And your demo pens.... many real beauties there, to hard for me to pick one as a favorite, but the bamboo one is awesome! And the smarties pen..... only you could pull that one off!!!!

I'll also vote for the bamboo ! Understated, but subtly beautiful.

Those are great. Unfortunately, you have over loaded me with new stuff to try.

Worse than that I now can't walk through WalMart without looking at everything. Added 2 hours to my normal shopping.

Really cuts into my weekend lathe time.

John... Thanks for the very cool demo! I loved your pens. I am especially keen to the Knurl pen, I thought that was definitely a unique method you used. It was very nice meeting you and I look forward to more creative styles that you think up...

All are very nice and each one shows a skilset. I like the jewelers chain the best. I bet it was great to see them up close.
