Hello all. These are the latest 4 pens I have made, out of about 40.
Thanks for watching and double thanks for commenting. :)

1st is shredded gold leaf cast in resin
2nd. is segmented wood with CA finish
3rd. is red elm with 2 segmented wood bands
4th is Red Bud wood with an ebony band. This last one got quite darker when I sanded it with black wet sand paper and it got stained. At first I cursed, but later I ended liking the result.

I have found that for me, what works ok is, for acrylics, just polish with wet MM using all grits from 1500 to 12000, and then finish with Ultra Shine cream for plastics.
For woods, I polish up to 3600 then apply several coats of BLO or Shellawax cream and then polish with the remaining grits of MM.
Also when doing the acrylic pen, my first attempt ended with a broken blank. I made the second by roughing with a pen turners tool, but I did most of the shaping with coarse band sandpaper. It worked OK but it takes longer.
