hey I've pen making pens for about 4 months but this is the first one I've posted on here so tell me what you think, good or bad.

this is a sceptre pen done in a honduran rosewood burl

Looking good so far.

The only comment I have is that the top half could be a bit thinner IMO. It seems almost out of place when compared to the bottom half.

To me the pictures are too dark. Can not see the material well. I agree about the shape. Looks odd. Whenever I do capped pens I do a bushing to bushing turning. I let the kit do the talking.

Good job matching the materiel to the kit. Sometimes figured wood and fancy kit can clash but that combination works. Something that can help is using a set of calipers to measure the hardware and a few points along the blank to check for high spots. A quick touch with sandpaper on a board can do the same. Looking forward to your next one.

Thanks guys. I did go a little thick on the cap but I was nervous with the expensive wood. I didn't want to do anything wrong. I like the caliper idea I'll have to try that. Thanks!

Nice pen. Yes it is a little thick but overall very nice job on it. I use some extra lights when I take my images. It really helps.
