Default My First Pen

This pen is made out of Olive Wood obtained from an estate sale about 8 years ago. I used the Black Titanium Slim Line kit with a CA glue finish. It is not perfect but I am pleased with the result overall.

Very nice! Looks like the Berea Hardwoods slimline, I never knew what to do with the extra center band rings that they send with the order, but it adds a little character. Hang on to your first pen, I look at my first pen every once an a while -- it is a good reminder of my progress, but I also remember how happy I was when I first finished it. You will improve, but you are off to a great start!

Thank you Jim! I was a little worried about the CA finish which is part of my displeasure with the finished product. I need to figure out a better way to separate the bushings.

Thanks for telling me the kit source. . It is a bit expensive for a slimline.

I do not disagree that it is a bit pricey, but that is Woodcraft. I think they will be good for local quick grabs, but I will definitely need to explore the IAP merchants.

My biggest goal was to get something that plating wear was less likely to 1) happen or 2) be noticeable if it did.

That is a nice pen for your first one. Love the look of olive wood. I deal a lot with WC as some of their employees are also members of a local woodturning club.
