I have been facinated by the 360 Herringbone. I finally got up the nerve to try one.
It is African Blackwood and Babinga dressed in a BT/TG Elegant Beauty Click.
My mother in law has always supported me in all my endevours, so I figure my first complex segment would be an appropriate gift.
I planed the wood down to 1/2" blanks, then cut 1/8" thick slices on the bandsaw. I used a small sled attached to the mitre guage.
It took me a little while to figure out how the pieces glue together. It was hard to wrap my brain around the layout.
I made a few mistakes gluing up. Some places not quite square which left small voids in the glue seams.
A lot of work is still needed, but I can't wait to try another.
All comments and critiques welcome.

I still can't get it figured out. Been trying so many different ways to glue it up. I'm doing something wrong but can't place it. I get Herringbones and something similar but not the 360 HB yet. Maybe soon I will with some more wasted wood and glue. LOL

Btw nice looking pen.

I made my first herringbone blank a few weeks ago. They are addictive! I have a few to turn since making that first one. Very nice work your pen looks great.

Thank you all for the great encouragement. I had fun making this, and the MIL loved it.

Now the ideas are just rolling around in my head. I plan to do another one soon, and I will take pictures of the process.
