This was my first try at a Gemstone.

A Canadiana FP in Black with Gold Matrix.

I kept reading about how hard this stuff was and how it takes a slow, patient, sharp.

NO S#$T

Took 4 times longer to turn than normal.
Sharpened gouge and skew about 20 times each.
Super fine black dust when sanding.
Lots of polishing, (little itty bitty scratches show up like a neon sign)

Aboslutly love the pen, will gladly do many more times.
I have decided to keep this as my own daily pen, because I love it and how better to learn about fountain pens than to use one daily.

As always, critisisms welcome.

Well done! Just seems to take patience...make sure SWMBO and small children and all animals stay out of the shop while it's being turned less their vocabulary be expanded!

Beautiful pen! Great job turning. True stone does require some very sharp tools and patience. Well worth your effort as pen looks great with that Cambridge Hybrid Kit.
Regal looking!
