Possibly on the next one, I am not a huge fan of that look (separation between the 2 wood pieces), but would still love the challenge.

Good job on your 1st closed ended pen. I like orions for these kind of pens because the tube for the lower barrel is longer than a jr gent I, or a baron, and the others that are this size. I bought 10 extra sets of orion tubes just so I could use them in closed ended jr gent I's. I like the orions, but I kept having problems with the couplers. I got to where I just wouldn't trust them.

That boxelder burl is really pretty.

Very nice - I like closed end pens and you did a nice job on this one! Great blank! I may have made the barrel a little thinner but that is an opinion!

I agree, it is a little on the thick side.

I also didn't leave enough extra stock on the closed end, and have a very small leftover indent from the live center on the tail stock. I might just fill it with some CA and hand sand it smooth.

Glad to see you agree on the Thickness, a little weight loss would make a great difference.
