Thanks to the recent purchase of a 8.5X1MM tap for Sierra transmissions ( thanks to sbell111 ) and a set of collets, I decided it was time to make my first attempt at a kitless pen. The pen is made from 1/2" Aluminum round bar. It was tapped to accept the sierra transmission. Besides the transmission the only other purchased part is a clip from a cigar pen.
It was a rather time consuming, but very rewarding experience.
I think I have a new carry pen!

Thanks for looking. Comments and criticism are appreciated.

Congratulations, nicely designed and executed. ITs a great pen to start your custom kitless pen making with.

The seam where it meets in the middle of the pen looks great and that is hard to do. For your kitless that is fantastic.

Mark!
was the Sierra transmission a good fit on the 8.5x1 threads.
I tried screwing the tap into the female threads of a Sierra pen and it went in a few threads and stopped so I was a little worried, but the Sierra transmission seemed to screw into the threads cut with the 8.5x1 tap just fine. So I expect the tap is not the "exact" tap but it seemed to work ok. I believe the shoulder on the Sierra transmission helps make it a very secure fit.
