ok i have been attempting to turn a antler pen for some time.
this is the first one that has worked for me.
the antler is the eyegaurd area(closest to the skull)
the antler was too short for the polaris pen(black tia) so i added black walnut to the top and bottom. had to use ca glue because the antler had alot of holes and was rough.
the antler came from a mule deer that my uncle shot 25 years ago.
mule deer(black tail deer) is smaller than white tail deer and this may be the reason that i had some trouble making a pen out of it.
thanks to everyone here that has posted how to turn antler for pens. this information has helped me alot.
the picture would have been better had i not been rushed to get the pen packed up for the trip to the coast(4 hour drive). i finished the pen at midnite monday 28 aug and on 29 aug tuesday(at 1 pm) i handed it to my uncle.
