The son of a gentleman I have made pens for came to me after a hunting trip to Africa. He asked if I could make a pen from a porcupine spine he had brought back. This is the most unusual request I have had to date. I hope he is happy with it. Some of the spines are two feet long.

Hi Hubert, thats a pretty neat pen - well done!

The natives around here taught me to cut the quill like you would cut a feather's quill and dip it in ink. Works the same as a fountain dipping pen.

I thought of taking the thicker bases and actually hollow them to take a 7mm tube... I put the idea on ice for now, together with my money and stamp pens untill I have more time (read money) for some casting equipment - bottom line: hold on to those quills! There's a lot one can do with them!
