I love it! Beautiful choice of materials. +1 on more thuya, and I think you could get the same effect with a narrower holly band. I would love to make a pen like this.

This was a really good looking pen. Is it possible to pop off that finial? A custom finial would really set this pen off (IMHO).

The thing I like about this post is that when I first saw this pen I said to myself. The very same things most of you have suggested. The thing about segmenting like this is less is more. You want hints of bands so it does not take away from the center piece. Also I would have the black against the red wood. Probably making a 3 ringed band or better yet eliminate the white. Thus each ring no larger than 1/16" Or done black and red only and go back to the 3 rings.

Anyway good job and thanks for showing. Get them next year.
