My Brother's First Pen

My brother was in from Japan (he is in the Navy) for Christmas and wanted to make a pen before he went back. He figured since he has about 6 of my pens he wanted to do one of his own!

I didn't get very good pictures of it, but the thing is awesome. It was a "blue lagoon" (I think) blank from Exotics and he didn't want the rifle clip so we replaced it with a standard slim clip.

No joke! I told him it looked a WHOLE LOT better than my first acrylic (he has never turned wood). He did have a little advantage, though...he is a surgeon so he is pretty good with his hands!

Looks good. Did you use the slimline bushings for that? I can never get mine to mate up with the shell.

I just turn between centers and use the calipers. The berea .308 style pen is 11.93mm (give or take depending on the kit) on both ends of the upper barrel.
