More Wine Cork

The vintners logo was a mallard duck. I just painted it with acrylic paint. I also use thin Sharpie in some requiring fine detail work.

Wow, these are beautiful. I am quite new to pen turning and have not seen corks used before. Any chance you have documented this work somewhere?

We live near the Finger Lakes Wine Region in Upstate NY and I expect the use of wine corks up here would go over very well.

john, really like all of the pens. Are you able to turn down a cork on the lathe to fit a cigar blank or are you able to find some really skinny corks somewhere? Seems like you would lose the logo on the cork?

Heh, heh, you drill it out and then slice out a wedge.

We are just far enough away that we don't get alot of the lake effect snows.

Start by using a 15mm brad bit and then cut the wedge out. Science: if you gave me ten cork, I could finish nine of them. One would most likely be ruined during the drilling process.

Nice looking cork pens. On my regular job we do recycle alot and I come upon wine bottles on a daily basis and throw away corks all the time. I thought that there has to be something you can do with these and now I know. If anyone is interested I can probally get plenty of these things. Send me a PM and I will see what I can do.
