Many years ago I was into Bonsai, and took a class in which I obtained a 10 year old Trident Maple. That tree died Father's Day of that year because it dried out after the long weekend I was away with the family. Since then, it sat in my warehouse, and for some reason, I just couldn't bring myself to throw it away. Last month I saw a thread about tap root, and the idea came to me that the dead tree would probably make a good pen. Not exactly tap root (since we usually trim those on a bonsai, but it is the exposed portion of the root at the base of the trunk, and what I could salvage.

Thanks.

Funny, I thought this and the Wall Street II that I posted at the same time as my Lignum Vitae (sapwood) Slimline were much better looking, but that thread has almost five times the posts.

Go figure. :)
