I have playing with black palm recently and I still have a difficult time with it sometimes. These two pens were not supposed to be segmented! The ends blew out so I turned a tenon and fitted the ends with a different material. Looks good I think,

The Bolt action bullet pen is antler and black palm. The bolt action Tec is spalted sycamore and black palm.

Nice saves. Looks like the black palm was crosscut, was it stabilized?

I think one of these was stabilized and one wasn't. I tried stabilized because of the difficult time I was having with it. Seems I still had troubles with the stabilized too! Sometimes I take larger cuts than I should I think, specially when it's cutting well. I get over confident or something.

Black palm period is hard to turn nicely, let alone cross cut, or anything else.
I tried to make a gear shirt knob for a friend out of it & gave up.
It kept splintering & ripping out on me.
