Found those short refills at Office Max and had to try one. They actually feel quite nice in your hand..Wood is curly Anigere.

All the credit goes to gatornick, He is the one who found the mini refill and came up with this ides..As far as a tutorial, I dont have the exact measurements, just cut the bottom barrel to accomadate the short refill..it is about 5/8" long..you may need to grind a little off the nib coupler to get them to fit in all the way

Man, that idea could have saved me <s>a bunch of</s> (ahem) one pen when I mistakenly switched the tubes.
