This is a pair of gold/silver metal flake pens I made to try out the material. The blanks were from DurocShark.

They are both gold/silver flake in PR. One is back painted black, one is back painted silver. This stuff was really nice to work with and the results speak for themselves.

I am thinking about giving them to my parents for their birthdays.

I prefer the black as well. I did the silver first thinking it would accent the silver flake and make the gold pop. Instead, it washed out the silver and make the gold look kind of out of place.

I thought the gold made them both pop really well.

That's the fun of doing pens with a lot of clear in the blank. Changing the background color can really change the entire look of the pen. And here's another vote for the black.
