A rancher in S. Texas gave me a piece of mesquite, and
after hacking it up managed to save a couple of pieces.
I have not seen too many pens made out of mesquite so I
thought I would post it. Any comments welcome.

Good job!

Nice burl figure on that mesquite. In time, the heartwood will turn reddish brown. I hope the sapwood stays light.

BTW, there are probably a lot more mesquite pens made here...just not shown. [;)]

Very nice looking piece of Mesquite! It's one of my favorite woods. I did these for a Dentist in Houston (and this was just part of the order).

Nice job, but I'd have preferred a flatter or more tapered profile. Aside from the profile being a matter of taste, the relevant question is whether that slight bulge in the middle of both barrels was intentional or not. I find those bulged shapes far more common among works by new penturners than those of old hands. If it was intentional, I'll have no quibbles.
