I was asked by a friend to make a memorial pen for a family he knows that lost their son recently. He supplied the wood from the families farm and with all the cracks in it I was lucky to get enough for the pen and the stand. He picked the pen style. I used water slide decal paper for the printing on the pen. (Turned away for privacy) I think the wood is ash. Black ti 7mm euro and many coats of med. CA. I stopped counting after 10. Put a few on and sand, repeat until you have a smooth finish over the decal. The stand is a varathane finish.

Thanks Seamus, the base was kind of dictated by the cracks in the wood. I wanted the point at the front to be the higher and at the back but with all the cracks it didn't work out. The wife thinks it looks better this way.
