Arguably the most difficult blank I have worked with. But worth the effort! It took about an hour to drill, prompting my purchase of a drill doctor. Was pretty slow turning with a carbide cutter. Sanded pretty easy. A few blowouts along the way. Really turned out more colorful than I thought it would!

Nice!

Looks to me like cast chips and drilling with HSS (with or without cobalt) is challenging. So is turning with that non-homogeneous material. I was going to suggest drilling with a diamond coring drill but you've got that resin in there that would clog it all up. Too bad you can't turn the chips first and then cast them! :)

Cheers,
Rich

Thanks for everyone's support. They are chunks of marble cast in some sort of resin. It looks like he might have added a little pearl, that is not apparent in the pic.
