Marble!

Arguably the most difficult blank I have worked with. But worth the effort! It took about an hour to drill, prompting my purchase of a drill doctor. Was pretty slow turning with a carbide cutter. Sanded pretty easy. A few blowouts along the way. Really turned out more colorful than I thought it would!

Nice!

Looks to me like cast chips and drilling with HSS (with or without cobalt) is challenging. So is turning with that non-homogeneous material. I was going to suggest drilling with a diamond coring drill but you've got that resin in there that would clog it all up. Too bad you can't turn the chips first and then cast them!

Thanks for everyone's support. They are chunks of marble cast in some sort of resin. It looks like he might have added a little pearl, that is not apparent in the pic.
