This is a ebonite pen with urushi lacquer.
The lacquering was inspired by a tea caddy made by Jihei Murase, a well known Japanese lacquer artist.
The section as the lid of the caddy in "Shû" red vermillion. The barrel and cap simply lacquered with "shoen-urushi" urushi mixed with pine carbon over the fundation without grinding.

Have a great weekend,

Martin

I Love the Tea Caddy Martin.
But I Adore the Pen,
Your Traditionally Glorious Profile and Proportion,
Couple with your Impeccable Fit and Finish,
The Red Section, is the "Icing on the Cake".
Magnificent Design and Craftsmanship.
Thank you,
Brian.
