On Friday I finished another fountain pen.
It is my first wood pen, turned from Indian Rosewood and coated with trasparent urushi.
The blanks I purchased from Vince at The Turners Workshop
After grinding up to grit 5000, I had to put on several coats of urushi to close the pores of the rosewood. Then a tick final coat of urushi was applied, ground and polished.
It is difficult to capture on the photograph but the wood structure is still visible under the urushi.
Urushi will become clearer and more transparent with the time and make the color and structure of the wood better visible.
Thank you,
Martin
