It made from ivory scrap - white and bog ivory. 40 pieces.
Also it is mammoth texture guide - pen contains all types of texture - network, straight, curly... It is impossible to give pen to customer. :)

Do this pen can get to featured photo on title IAP page?

I am really enjoying seeing all of the mammoth ivory work. The segmenting on that one looks great, I'd love to have that in my private collection. I think the front page may be decided by a cult twice as secret as the Freemasons holding sessions over a couldron filled with boiling Bics. But I COULD be wrong, it's happened once or twice.

Very nice segmenting, I love the work you are doing, but I'm about ready to toss about a 1/2 pound of fossil ivory out the door.
I cant get any thing to work right with it!! My hat is off to you for the several beautiful pens you've done and shown, Beautiful work!!!

Drstrangefart, what do you think, what is reasonable price of that pen in US?

bitshird, are you going to make random segment pen like this?
Not sure that 1/2 pounds of ivory will be enough.

Hm... 250 views and two persons told opinon about pen. Unique pen, from unique, rare in US material.

Another reason to not share ideas...

Anyway, I cannot sell pen to customer. I is too good. :)

Two photos for memory.

And texture guide.
Look at crack and color outside. Inside of crack pure calcium. Such cracks can be find very often on mammoth ivory.
Color change - beginning of bogging process.

Layer texture, typical for outside part of tusk (rind). Look at texture matching on two pieces.

Nice horns on lower piece.

Look at transitio from network to straight lines.

Beautiful pen Alejanders . The networking is striking , nature`s way of re-inforcing a product that had to be very tough . If you look at some dinosaur armour plates under a microscope , you will see a similar structure .

Pricing ? Way out of my league , but don`t think I would take less than a thousand , and maybe should be a lot more than that .
