This one along with the other two in your other thread are great pens. Very nice... I would guess that ivory is fragile and hard at the same time.

sorry about my ignorance, but is not real mammoth ivory, isn't it?

Here is one source, there are others----not Exotics, yet---

Boone Trading Company - Mammoth Ivory

like many things, it IS available, it is NOT cheap
And its the devil to work with at times. (fragile, cracking, smell, etc. etc.) I love the stuff.

And, once you have successfully made it into a pen, it may crack!!! Today, tomorrow, next year---so, if you choose to sell it----it may come back to haunt you!!!

No. It is real, genuine, natural, not-fake mammoth ivory from Yakutia. :)

So now I'm curious how did you get one of these? I don't believe from a woodturning supplier, what is the story behind? BTW I didn't mentioned that is one of the finest pens I've seen
Thanks. :)

It is not very hard to buy mammoth ivory in Russia - Yakitia is not foreign country for Russia. :)
Some pieces sold me one ivory carver. Some pieces I have bought from on flea market...
Unfortunatly it is not legal to export raw mammoth ivory. I would help you... :(
