Made me another cedar. More practice on the finish.

Pretty much my run of the mill Slim with custom centerband. Figured I'd try out a variation on the barrel shape, which I like a lot now. Gives it a surprisingly different personality. Applied then Meshed off many coats of thin and many coats of medium before I did 4 coats of medium for the final polish.

Looks pretty nice , Cedar is a pretty wood, it's a shame it's so darned soft.

Yup. It was interesting trying to remove all of the sanding marks from the first grit I used. Didn't quite get 'em all. Next time, I start on the fine grits. I will gladly take a softer, more stable wood over the hard stuff that tears away when an ant farts.

When sanding use a soft hand, the sap wood is much softer than the heart wood and will cut faster. If you can get a stiff backer for the paper it will help.
Cedar is one of my all time favorite woods to turn. It makes the shop smell so good and turns out very good looking. Besides that, I have a yard full of the stuff.
For finishing, I always start off with a good soaking of thin CA to make the wood firmer then apply the final finish.
