A black palm g series. I call it lucky #7 because I destroyed the first 6 blanks in various stages of completion. This was the first piece of purchased material I bought. Thanks for looking and comments.

Way to achieve! I've made pens that took that many tries and more, and I know how many low-value items have been thrown through the sheetrock in my basement as a result.

Nice results! You should be proud of that. So given your 6 previous tries, what did you learn from it?

My personal black palm rule... No SKEW!! Given the orientation of the fiber bundles when I used my skew to make a planning cut it tore my blank to ribbons.

Sharp gouge and then sandpaper...

That stuff is so beautiful and such a pain to work with. You did nothing wrong. I went through at least that many to make one pen, also. I tried a fast lathe, a slow lathe, stablized, Sharp tools dull tools etc. etc. Luck of the draw. no catches, just explosions.
