I think that foggy area in the lower center is a lighting problem. It's not like that in real life.

A Very Clever Pen Design, Leslie.
Love your choice of Black Walnut and Aluminium Inserts.
At first glance I didn't notice that there was no Clip, as my eye caught sight of the top Aluminium Insert.
The Dropped Waist line looks good. Though is there a slight difference in the Diameter of the Lower Blank at the Waist to the Upper?
Great Concept and Exercution.

Thanks. You've got a good eye. It's not off by much - only about 0.010. Both pieces were tubed, assembled and turned at the same time TBC. There was a little slop between the unglued lower portion of the upper section and the tube which introduced that discrepancy. That upper section got pretty thin. I was surprised it actually held together. Nearly every cutting pass got a soaking of thin CA.
