Live Oak pen and box

My Granddaughters cheer team won 1st in their division and are headed to Florida to compete in Nationals. Their cheer team is from the Live Oak School and I made this pen and box from a Live Oak tree that had to be cut down at the old Live Oak High School. It will be raffled off at a fund raiser this Saturday to help raise funds for the trip. The tree was thought to be over 100 years old. The school colors are blue and gold so I added blue and gold laminated wood at the top of the pen. Live Oak wood is definitely a challenge to work with.

Nicely done Bobby! Should do great at auction. I cut off a Live Oak burl from a tree on my property in California. It's got to be the toughest piece of wood I've ever tried to turn. It's supposed to be a fruit bowl and I've been working on it for about 5 years now.
